Is it okay to keep the leftover mask serum?

So after using a face mask, there's always leftover serum in the bag. Is it alright to keep the serum in a container and use it later in the week? If so, would I need to store it somewhere cold like a fridge or something? Or will it go bad after it's out of its bag?
